Made in Japan

A big birthday meant a special effort.
I created a Tomoko Nakamichi inspired top,
with a 100% cotton fabric made in Japan for a friend.

Below is a mini version of the
Tomoko Nakamichi's Knots Dress from "Pattern Magic 2".
I think the dress is about 20cm in height
and made of a linen fabric.
So I had to modify the pattern for our hot summers.

My partner (he is actually great at spotting the right fabric)
found this lovely light cotton made in Japan.
My friend has a sophisticated sense of style,
so I thought this pattern would be safe pick.

Time to modify the pattern.
The "Pattern Magic 2" book does not exactly provide a pattern
more guidance in relation to proportions.

Time to make an informed guess at the size
and some critical thinking around the modified pattern.

Time to cut the fabric!
Always a scary point in the creative process.

Without my friend to measure, I decided to make the top
larger with the ability for a tight top underneath.
I also wanted to make the arm holes a feature.

Bonnie Blue

Bonnie Blue has been made for a friends niece. The little girl loves blue so I complemented blue/greens with orange/red highlights.

We picked some fabrics
that would work well together

Design Approach - Imagine - Create - Gift

Design Approach

R & r Moda has a commitment to one off, original garments.  Each outfit is made to order, enabling you to choose style, colour and finishes. R & r Moda will then make a guaranteed one off outfit, especially for you or your special someone.

To make the garment special we have a unique design approach, imagine what you would like, allow us to create it and then you can gift it to that someone special in your life. It is a simple three step approach.

Imagine - Create - Gift

Imagine
Step one: Imagine the type of garment you would like to gift. Talk with us about size, colour, style and types of material.

Create
Step two: R & r create an original garment. We make an outfit to your general specifications, but giving it a design twist.  The final piece will always be original and special.

Gift
Step three: The best part is you get to gift the garment.

The Imagine-Create-Gift approach is not hard but you do need to think about a few things before you chat with us:
