I had so much fun last time that I decided to try another
Tomoko Nakamichi design from Pattern Magic Stretch Fabrics

Instructions

I was lazy and decided to make my own pattern
rather than try follow Tomoko Nakamichi's instructions

Getting the arm detail was fun.
I decided this was too extreme for the office.

The arm detail was a little more appropriate for the office.

Made in Japan

A big birthday meant a special effort.
I created a Tomoko Nakamichi inspired top,
with a 100% cotton fabric made in Japan for a friend.

Below is a mini version of the
Tomoko Nakamichi's Knots Dress
from "Pattern Magic 2".
I think the dress is about 20cm in height
and made of a linen fabric.
So I had to modify the pattern for our hot summers.

My partner (he is actually great at spotting the right fabric)
found this lovely light cotton made in Japan.
My friend has a sophisticated sense of style,
so I thought this pattern would be safe pick.

Time to modify the pattern.
The "Pattern Magic 2" book does not exactly provide a pattern
more guidance in relation to proportions.

Time to make an informed guess at the size
and some critical thinking around the modified pattern.

Time to cut the fabric!
Always a scary point in the creative process.

Without my friend to measure, I decided to make the top
larger with the ability for a tight top underneath.
I also wanted to make the arm holes a feature.

Gorgeous and Tall

A beautiful friend of mine has trouble finding clothes, she is very tall and our world of standard sizes does not accommodate her needs.
She selected this lovely fabric for a light dress that met her summer ball needs.
I have added the cream ribbon but I think she liked how is flowed without it.

Sumptuous Silk

This beautiful silk dress can be worn to work or for a summer afternoon.
It is like magic because it does not crease
as much as linen or cotton, making it an easy to wear.

Feathery Delight

A dress for myself. Having completed treatment for breast cancer I have a range of scars and mismatched breasts. With a friends wedding to attend I wanted to cover up my scars and also feel a little elegant. It can be a challenge in the Western Australian heat, but I am very pleased with my light weight maxi dress. Once I do the hem to match my heels I think I will be ready to have a great time at the beautiful outdoor wedding.
